Hello to anyone who happens to be looking at this page?!?
I'll be in Detroit Jul 27, 2007 or so to Sept 3, 2007.
Why does this matter?  Because I'm selling a bunch of stuff, some music gear included.
The ever incomplete "Garage Sale" page link is here...

Goofy descriptions? Useful links? Things like this may or may not be found here.... Use your browser's search function to look for a particular band that has played here.... If you're looking for current events, try clicking here.
This page can take a long time to load, so be patient please!
This is the historical Gold Dollar schedule. It is a compilation of all of our listings from January 1997 to the present. If and when this ever gets completed, it will be from our opening on August 3, 1996. Are there errors? Yes! Bad links? Probably! If any of them bother you sufficiently, please drop us a not and we will attempt to make corrections....

...things seem a little sketchy about the beginning....

August 1997
Fri 8/1: THRALL, El Cabron, Love Muffins. - From the twisted wreckage that was the God Bullies, Hand Over Head, and Inside Out comes THRALL, to forge a more perfect union. The end result? The sum of all their parts equals a heavy riff-based rhythm section and a furious guitar squall, that perfectly merge with Hard's disturbingly unhinged vocal style, creating the unholiest union of them all: Chemical Wedding (on Alternative Tentacles)

Sat 8/2: PURPLE FLY - A Detroit area sextet hell-bent on re-infusing rock & roll with guts, grace, and groove. Inspired by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, and Sly and the Family Stone, Purple Fly will be performing a few all original sets composed of material classic and new, fro this, their last show of the summer.

Sat 8/9: Wild Bunch, Steel Miners - Experience the Beer Bunch, er... Liquor Bunch... er... Sleazy Bunch... umm.... Freaky Bunch.... no, that's Wouldn't Trust'em with your Daughter Bunch.... No, We're not playing many Detroit Shows anymore Bunch.... with a rousing opening set from the Steel Miners from Pittsburgh. "Let me take you to a...." Oh yeah, we're here.

WED 8/13: The Anglo-American Noise Tour! From England: Evil Moisture, Smell & Quinn, Prick Decay. From USA: Emil Beaulieau, Skin Climb, Cock ESP, and Crank Sturgeon. Yes, we are planning on having earplug specials in this all noise night! By the way, if you want a preview, most of these artists can be found on RR Records.

THURS 8/14: 68 Comeback, Rocket 455 -
By the numbers, I would think..... Oh never mind. Anyway, it'll be mayhem, madness and energy from Rocket 455, and country rockabilly stuff from 68 Comeback. They're from Memphis, and have a few former members of The Gibson Brothers, so be nice!

Fri 8/15: Hentchmen, Insects, White Stripes - High energy rock with organ, guitar, and drums from the Hentchmen. Insects inject a kinda mid tempo 60's kinda sound in the middle. The show is opened with the debut of the White Stripes, 2 pc original Detroit music. Or was that 2 pc extra spicy?

Sat 8/16: all HAIL me, Queen Size Shag, MAN - Hailing from Toledo, all HAIL me provides a bouncy intensely melodic modern rock sound. Queen Size Shag... Girlcore from Montreal! Post jock, post cock, post rock. Twisted angelic harmonies, raunchy riff rock, dirty acoustic sound, and raw words of ladylike rage. MAN is an amazing solo performer, giving intense pounding originals with eerie vocals, screaming bass, and a pounding kick drum. Must be experienced to be believed.

Fri 8/22: Witches w/ Outrageous Cherry - The Witches have probably played here more than anyone else. Why? Because they're really good! A living melodic wall, in a VU/Beatles kind of inspired way. Outrageous Cherry opens. Yes you've heard them, yes you know them, yes you love them. No, they've never played here before.

Sat 8/23: Crucial Desire, Walking Predicament - Crucial Desire checks in with a bouncy-melodic-catchy-funky Phish inspired groove. Kinda spacey indie rock with pop sensibilities... Indie rock for the lovesick or just plain pissed. That's Walking Predicament.

Fri 8/29: Dexter Love, Skin.Mill - Coming in from DC, Dexter Love loads a heavy groovy rock & roll onto the road. Kind of like Stevie Wonder & Jane's Addiction making a record together. Skin.Mill also travels here from the East, but not quite as far. Powerful and punchy modern rock from Detroit's East Side!!!

Sat 8/30: n-2 submission, Bionics - n-2 Submission features The Impaler, whips, electronic drum beats, wailing guitars, and Mistress Tracy. Bionics is an electronic techno-noise project of Mike Nobody, using toy synthesizers. Hmmm......

Sun 7/5: Sackville (Free show!!) Sackville's urban upbringing is rarely betrayed by their sad and slow epic pop, which taps the drone-folk of Gastr Del Sol, the sting of Dirty Three, and the laissez-faire country-rock of Giant Sand. In true spirit of the haute-couture of Pussycat caverns drama, she regularly designs saucy new seasonal wardrobes for her troupe of little puppet friends.
